The Australian Literacy And Numeracy Foundation
We wish to acknowledge the original custodians of this land, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation and their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region.
When we first opened our doors and in conjunction with our Philosophy we decided that our small community would support 'The Australian Numeracy and Literacy Foundation'.
Since our early days with the help of our families we have raised a considerable amount of money. At first we reached out to our friends who saw the importance of Numeracy and Literacy we created our very own 'Wall of Hands' and then our 'Dreaming Mosaic'.
For the last two years we embedded the 'Read-A-Thon' into our schools program. The benefits of the Read-A-Thon are two fold: we read and learn and we help others read and learn.
The journey for all of us so far has enabled our children to learn about the world around them and learn about belonging to groups and communities. As a group of educators we understand "The reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation."
